Resources to Learn More About Michigan Forests and Forestry

In the spirit of cooperation, click here for a list of contacts, consultants, organizations, agencies that offer forest information and forestry assistance in Michigan.  The link will take you to the Michigan Forest Pathways website, which serves as a clearinghouse of information about Michigan forests and forestry.

Without a doubt, it is a challenge to anticipate what "information" somebody might want. Forests and forestry are far more diverse and complex than what most people realize. Interests among forest owners and forest lovers range from timber sales and stumpage prices to endangered species and morels. Management is also the answer to healthier forests that provide services that benefit all the people of Michigan.

The Michigan Forest Pathways website categorizes "information" into six categories:

For information about Michigan forests and forestry, try the Michigan Forests Forever Teachers Guide

For tree identification, the U.P. Tree ID website is a good source for trees in northern Michigan
